Wood firing and Sisters
Wood fired pottery is similar to siblings. Just like my sisters and I bear a resemblance to one another, specific qualities and experiences set us apart uniquely defining Amy from Sarah, Beth from Lisa, or Anna. From time to time, I think about this as I unload my pots from our wood kilns. Each pot bears some characteristic that unifies it to its sibling, yet the fiery atmosphere leaves individual markings that distinguish the vessel as a stand-alone, a one-of-a-kind. No two pots are ever the same nor can they be replicated. This too is true of sisters.
